Google has opened access to its Search Labs beta program, allowing users to try out upcoming search engine updates, with the most notable change being the Search Generation Experience, or SGE.

To be clear, Search Labs isn't technically open to the public, as you have to join the waitlist first. If you are already registered, please be sure to check your email account Invitation from Google As they are currently rolling out. If you haven't entered yet, don't worry as there's still space left on the waitlist on desktop and mobile.

To join on desktop, you need to first install Google Chrome on your computer. From there, head to Search lab website , opt-in to the waitlist, and wait for the invitation to arrive. On your mobile device, launch the Google app. You should see a scientific beaker-style icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Just like before, opt into the waitlist and wait for an invitation. Search Labs is available on iOS and Android, so no one is left out. If you don't see the icon, please install the latest app update.

Unless you are a Google One Premium subscriber, it may take a while until you get an invite. A Recent report from 9To5Google State Premium users are getting "priority access" to the Search Lab, although "it won't be immediate." Currently "access points are limited," but more will open "in the coming weeks."
